Environmental Health Officer

Preserving and protecting the island by working in Regulation is a unique opportunity to play a role in looking after our environment and each other

Based within the Environmental and Consumer Protection team this role provides varied options across environmental areas such as proactive environmental public health,food hygiene standards in restaurants, pubs cafes etc. infectious diseases or the impact of poor housing on health. These are issues close to many Islanders’ hearts and impact on the air we breathe, the water we drink, where we work, what we eat and where we live. You will make a tangible difference, where making an impact will be central to all you do.

Qualification: Degree (distance learning) in Environmental Health - Qualifications may vary.

Duration: 3 years

Requirements: 3 A Levels at grade C (or equivalent is desirable, with one science based) or experience in a relevant role, for example housing management, infection control or a food business

Trading Standards Trainee

Regulation: fascinating, essential and helps to keep us all safe and secure

Based within the Trading Standards area of the Regulation department, this role will see you providing regulatory advice and guidance to businesses and consumers. Trading Standards enforce a wide range of consumer law whilst working in partnership with other departments to ensure compliance with issues that are close to Islanders’ hearts and impact our quality of life; you will make a tangible difference.

Qualification: Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma (distance learning).

Duration: 3 years

Requirements: Educated to degree level, but we will consider applications with equivalent grades.

Building Control Inspector

Inspecting and ensuring the island is a safe place is why our building control team are proud to play their part in making a better place for our local construction industry.

Based within the Building Control area of the Regulation team this role provides proactive inspection, advice and review of all construction works on island to ensure islanders are safe and buildings are built to a safe standard. You will make a tangible difference in ensuring that people are safe in and around buildings, making sure that buildings are accessible to all and improving energy efficiency.

Qualification: Degree (distance learning) in Building Control or Housing Management or Housing Studies - Qualifications may vary.

Duration: 3 years

Requirements: 3 A Levels at grade C (or equivalent is desirable) but we will not discount applications with different grades.

Compliance Officer

Protecting the Island by Investigating breaches of the Island land and habitat laws

Our land and habitat laws serve to protect our Island. Investigations are needed to ensure compliance and require evidence collation and recommendations that are formulated in accordance with required legal standards and best practice. Through site inspections and formal action where needed, you’ll help to protect Jersey’s unique environment by ensuring fairness in assuring compliance with the various Island land and habitat laws.

Qualification: Degree in Corporate Compliance - Qualifications may vary.

Duration: 3 years

Requirements: 3 A Levels at grade C (or equivalent is desirable) but we will not discount applications with different grades.

Parks and Gardens Apprentice

Providing the Island with its internationally accredited 'Green Flag' parks

We are proud of our Green Flag Parks and the amazing spaces they provide for all to enjoy. Joining a passionate and talented team of Gardeners you will learn many skills and take pleasure in creating and maintaining these much used spaces.

Qualification: Skilled Gardener (Level 2 qualification) - Qualifications may vary.

Duration: 3 years

Requirements: Minimum 3 x GCSE's at grade 'C' to include Maths and a Science
